Benedict College

Makyiah HailsMakyiah Hails is a senior biology major from Indianapolis, IN. She has earned a place on the Dean’s List each year. She is the President of the Gamma Upsilon Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Miss 1870 on the Benedict College Royal Court, and previously held roles as SGA Recording Secretary and Miss NPHC.

Her dedication to scientific research is evident through her experience as a Summer Research Initiative (SURI) Scholar with the School of Science and Engineering, an NIH R25 Research Scholar, and a Finding Your Future Scholar with the University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

Makyiah brings a strong foundation in research, leadership, and service alongside a deep commitment to positively impacting healthcare.

Howard University

Jasmine ArnoldJasmine Arnold�is a senior� pursuing a Bachelor of Sciences in Health, Human Performance & Leisure Studies (Sports Medicine) on the pre-medical track. She aspires to become a Sports Medicine Physician for a professional team or an Orthopedic Surgeon. 

She has pursued study abroad experiences, internships, and shadowing opportunities.  She has been involved in various pre-medical organizations: Health Professions Society, Howard University Comprehensive Medical Mentoring Program, Howard College of Medicine Scholars Program, and Women in Pre-Med.

She has also participated in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Career Professional Development Seminar. She is also a member of Revolt, Incorporated, a non-profit organization that focuses on enriching the community, empowering women, and educating youth. 

Northern Arizona University

David ThomasDavid Thomas is a freshman majoring in Biomedical Science. Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, with roots in Panama, he has gained a unique perspective on life. In addition to his studies, he has worked as a phlebotomist, gaining hands-on experience in patient care and laboratory procedures, which has deepened his understanding of healthcare.

He is also an intern at the Cancer Support Community, where he assists in providing emotional and practical support to patients.

His passion for medicine motivates him every day, and is determined to become a physician, using his skills and experiences to make a positive impact in the lives of others. 

Talladega College

Michael LynchMichael Lynch is a freshman pursuing a bachelor’s degree in biology with a focus in premedical studies.

He is a Ronald E. McNair Scholar, Alabama Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation Program Scholar (ALSAMP), and a proud member of the Great Tornado Band.

He is interested in obtaining experience in the medical field and medical resource development through research opportunities internships, especially those with stipends, as he aspired to continue his education and attend medical school.

Univesity of Maryland Eastern Shore

Oluwatomisin SalimiOluwatomisin Salami is a senior majoring in Biology pre-med. She aspires to become a cardiothoracic surgeon, combining academic excellence with a passion for discovery and growth. She was born in Ohio, USA, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria.

At Harvard University, she collaborated with Dr. Suhrid Ghosh on research studying cellular organization in the developing ovary of Drosophila melanogaster. She is an active member of the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation at UMES. She has consistently excelled academically, earning honors roll and dean’s list recognition since her first semester.

Beyond her achievements, Oluwatomisin is known for her easygoing nature, eagerness to learn, and determination to embrace challenges. She is committed to making a lasting impact both in her field and community.

Virginia State University

Bennika MitchellBennika Mitchell is a junior biology pre-med student and aspiring pediatric anesthesiologist with an impressive record of academic, leadership, and volunteer achievements.

As a Presidential scholar, Bennika stands out at Virginia State University as a driven student with a passion for healthcare, social justice, and community service.

She is a published author in academic medicine and holds the Gold Presidential Volunteer Service Award. Bennika is actively involved in initiatives supporting educational empowerment and charity, she is committed to making an impact in the pre-medical field.
