Dr. Lavida RogersBiography

Dr. Lavida Rogers is an assistant professor at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) and the pre-health advisor. She is also involved with The Emerging Caribbean Scientists (ECS) Program Steering Committee as the OEK campus coordinator.

Her research focuses on the impact of age on immune system activation in response to respiratory infections and auto-immune diseases. Dr. Rogers also contributes to statistical methodology development for DNA and RNA sequencing data, including quality control and mapping algorithm improvement.

Through her roles as an educator and advisor, she nurtures aspiring scientists while promoting scientific excellence in the Caribbean scientific community. Dr. Rogers' work sheds light on immune responses and genetic data processing, contributing to advancements in immunology and biomedical research.
