Biography

Debra Holly FordDebra Holly Ford, MD is a surgeon and esteemed faculty member at Howard University College of Medicine, and recently achieved a significant milestone in her career. She was honored with induction into the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Academy of Master Surgeon Educators, a prestigious distinction within the field.

Dr. Ford holds several groundbreaking achievements, being the first African American woman to attain board certification in Colon and Rectal Surgery in the United States and the first Black woman to become a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. With a remarkable dedication to medical education, Dr. Ford has taught and trained numerous medical students and residents throughout her tenure at Howard University.

Currently serving as an associate professor of surgery and senior associate dean for academic affairs, she has consistently strived to support aspiring healthcare professionals from diverse backgrounds.
