Clinical Approaches to Supporting Patients Returning to HIV Care

Thursday March 23, 2023
2:00-3:00 PM EST

Reestablishing clinical contact with patients who are returning to HIV care has benefits including improved viral load suppression and subsequent decrease in

HIV-related morbidity and mortality as well as HIV transmission. Addressing the need might also serve to prevent the continuing success of HIV treatment and could hinder the achievement of the 90–90-90 objectives. This webinar will focus on return and retention strategies including optimizing services and addressing

gaps in re-engagement. Culturally appropriate clinical services aimed at designing optimum strategies to improve re-engagement in care, improve clinical outcomes, especially in resource constrained settings will also be addressed.

1.0 CME credit hour as well as Certificates of Attendance will be available for registered attendees.

HIV & Mental Health

Thursday April 13, 2023
2:00-3:00 PM EST

Does HIV infection and treatment lead to mental health problems, or does the mental health problem cause behavior which increases likelihood of HIV infection? Compared with the general population, rates of mental health complications are higher among people who are vulnerable to acquiring HIV as well as People with HIV (PWH), people living with HIV have a higher chance of developing mood, anxiety, and cognitive disorders. Depression is one of the most common mental health conditions faced by people living with HIV. The side effects of some medications used to treat HIV may affect a person's mental health. Prioritizing mental health treatment and integrating it so each step in the HIV care continuum act to strengthen prevention and care outcomes is critical. Identifying vital screening tools, effective treatments, and strategies to care for mental health problems among people at risk for and living with HIV will be addressed in this webinar.

HIV Primary Care Update

Thursday May 18, 2023
2:00-3:00 PM EST

Significant strides have been made in the prevention and treatment of HIV since it was first documented over 40 years ago. Updated screening recommendations give clinicians an important tool in assessing patients at risk of HIV infection, detecting those who are infected, and recommending effective treatment options. Appropriate management with combination antiretroviral therapy frequently extends the patient's life, sometimes for decades. As such it is important for the clinician to recognize complications of therapy and potential medication interactions. This webinar will focus on the long-term complications of non-AIDS-related conditions, including cardiovascular disease, renal disease, liver disease, and malignancies.

1.0 CME credit hour as well as Certificates of Attendance will be available for registered attendees.

Tools to Strengthen Adherence to Care and Treatment in HIV

Thursday June 22, 2023
2:00-3:00 PM EST

Individuals whose HIV viral loads are not suppressed are at higher risk for drug resistance, increased morbidity and mortality, and a higher threat of person-to- person HIV transmission. For patients who are non-adherent, successful management of their HIV disease is daunting. This webinar will provide clinicians with a solid understanding of the non adherent patient and discuss culturally appropriate strategies aimed at inspiring the non adherent individual to be willing to take HIV medications as prescribed.

1.0 CME credit hour as well as Certificates of Attendance will be available for registered attendees.
