David Heal, M.S.W. has 35 years of public health and community services experience. His introduction to public health methods for controlling infectious disease was gained while serving as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in the Solomon Islands during the early 1980’s. After returning home he administrated county and regional mental health and HIV programs in Washington State. He has managed HIV prevention programs, HIV partner services, and HIV case management services and served as a planner and policy advisor including the Governor’s Council on HIV and AIDS. He has broad experience in HIV program development aimed at integrating HIV care and prevention to improve health outcomes at both the individual and population levels. He is currently Retention in Care Coordinator in the Office of Infectious Disease, Washington State Department of Health.
