Biography
Donna M. Christensen, MD is the Former U.S. Virgin Islands Congresswoman and Congressional Black Caucus Health Brain Trust Chair. She served nine terms as a U.S. Congresswoman, was the first female physician to serve as a U.S. Congress member, the first woman to represent an offshore Territory, and was the first woman Delegate from the United States Virgin Islands. Dr. Christensen earned her Medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine. Her medical career has spanned more than 20 years.
She served as an emergency room physician, and later as the medical director for the St. Croix hospital. She served on the Democratic Task Force on Child Care, the Democratic Task Force on the Juvenile Crime/Justice Agenda, and the Democratic Task Force on HIV/AIDS in the 105th Congress. Dr Christensen is a longtime champion of minority health issues and issues that affect the Caribbean Region.
